As an aside to Jessie’s remark about children’s war games, there has been a huge uproar over Colin Kaepernick’s protest at 49ers football games: he doesn’t stand with his hand over his heart during the national anthem. However, whenever this protest is discussed, it seems to me that there is an elephant in the room: the anthem itself, that is played prior to virtually every sporting event, accompanied by military color guard and huge field-sized furling flag. Why all the flag waving at sporting events? They are focusing our attention on war. The anthem is a war song. War is pushed at every opportunity. Can’t we have games for games’ sake?

Jessie mentioned that the appellate judges in his lawsuit did not address him as Governor. Does he appear in the suit as Governor? Or does he appear as himself? I don’t know the answer to that, but I suspect the latter, which would be why they don’t address him as Governor. Does the suit involve his Governorship?
